Prince William will hold a meeting with Donald Trump in Paris today, as the pair both attend the re-opening of the Notre-Dame Cathedral.
Both the prince and the US president-elect are in Paris, France to mark the extensive restoration of the historic cathedral, which was damaged in a catastrophic fire in April 2019.
The Prince of Wales will attend the event on behalf of the United Kingdom, and Kensington Palace have announced that while there, he will also host meetings with Donald Trump and US First Lady Jill Biden.
It is expected that Prince William and Donald Trump will discuss the importance of the ‘special relationship’ between the UK and the US, as the former president prepares to return to power on January 20.
The pair have met before, notably at the state banquet held by the late Queen Elizabeth II for President Trump at Buckingham Palace in June 2019.
This weekend, the Notre-Dame Cathedral will reopen to the public and to celebrate the moment, President Macron and the Archbishop of Paris are hosting a special event at the cathedral which will be attended by Heads of State from around the world.
Ukraine’s President Zelensky is also expected to attend, which could see his first in-person meeting with Donald Trump since November’s election victory.
Prince William attended a service at Westminster Abbey in London on Friday night with his wife Catherine, and their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
It was the fourth year that the Princess of Wales hosted the carol service titled ‘Together at Christmas’ and marked one of her first major public events since returning to public life after her treatment for cancer.
She was filmed speaking with guests, and told British pop star Paloma Faith, “I didn’t know this year was going to be the year that I just had.”
